Baile Mhuire Day Care Centre for Older Persons

Our Day Care Centre presently operates 5 days a week; Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Baile Mhuire has a full capacity with 35
people attending per day. And has a waiting list at all times. Approx 90-100
people attend weekly.

The Saturday service fills a huge need both for the
Older Person living alone and also for Family Carers, as it frees up families
at weekends for regular family activities and is greatly appreciated.

The Centre currently offers a package of Care to the Older Person including
Personal and Nursing Care such as Showers and Dressings. Physiotherapy
and Hairdressing sessions are also provided. Good wholesome food , cooked
on site is an essential part of the service.

Social activities and exercise programmes also form part of the daily routine at the Centre. Art classes are provided voluntary by members of Tralee Art Group, every Wednesday and we are greatly appreciative to the Group for this collaboration.

Day services are recognised, in both policy and practice, as an essential part
of the continuum of care, supporting the Older Person to remain in their own
homes and communities for as long as possible.
